Mj Lastimosa’s walk was one of her strongest points. Very natural and feminine. None of that arrogant and abrupt strutting that has come to be the norm in beauty pageants. But among the top 10 finalists she had one of the worst gowns. It was stiff! A softer design that swayed as she moved across the stage would have complemented that killer walk!
My heart goes out to her because I heard stories that everyone in her camp was dismayed with the gown but she was forced to compete in it. She did her best and her Top 10 placement in MU is an achievement! Actually, fans are right, it’s time for us to pay attention to the issue of our girls in foreign-designed gowns. And those disappointments are necessary so that Bb. Pilipinas wakes up and starts using Filipino designs. Too bad though that it had to happen during MJ’s reign.
Isn’t it amazing that right after BPCI allowed pinoy designers to dress our queens is also the exact time that we won miss universe crown after 42 years? Nothing more, no less. Thanks to the stars in the universe that it happened to MJ! Because of Mj’s non-inclusion in the top 5, a massive campaign ran around the pageant community and the entire Bb. Pilipinas organization that touches madam Stella’s heart to allow our next representative to wear “gawang pinoy” designs.
I feel that MJ is the sacrificial lamb. Now it is evident. There is no escaping the fact that MJ’s gown caused her placement. If MJ would place, then Stella would just brag about it. This is happening for a reason! To open our eyes and finally address this issue big time! Pia Wurtzbach is lucky enough to follow next to MJ. As all the stars in the universe is aligned to her now. No wonder after Pia’s coronation night MJ took her sentiments to Instagram and specified her appreciation to the gown. “Blue gown fit for a Blue crown!”. Thank you Mj Lastimosa, future Binibini’s are lucky to have you ahead of them! Congratulations Pia! After 42 years of crying, you did it!
